PUERTO VIEJO – COSTA RICA
This was a family – surf – trip. This means, kids surf – parents suffer. We arrived Miami Airport early enough to check in on time, pay a short visit to the free-shop and wait till take off. We were supposed to arrive to San Jose, Costa Rica, at 3 p.m., for we had a long ride to Puerto Viejo and not wanted to drive at night. Well, this was an utopia. We loose our flight; my husband (and the boys) were missing in action, and while everybody was boarding, I was wondering what on earth were they doing. Finally, and after the plane had already left, they showed up, smiling faces, unaware of everything. Luckily there was another flight, so after a while, we landed in San Jose and went right to the Car Rental office and made the arrangements to leave with a Suzuki 4×4 towards Puerto Viejo. The trouble was that it was already 9 p.m., and we had to drive 3 hours and a half through unknown roads until we reached Puerto Viejo. We discussed whether to stay in San Jose for the night, but the only one who said YES was me, nobody paid attention to my prayers, and we left. “Be careful once you get to the Braulio Carrillo Highway, and don’t stop at Puerto Limon at night”, advised us the man at the Rental Office, as he waved goodbye. Well, he was right. I’ll tell you tomorrow.

Your experiences awake my memories. The Braulio Carrillo Highway, the hughe banana plants on the edge of the road from Limon to Puerto Viejo, the rasta people, very much alike Jamaicans, the waves, the palm tree jungle almost reaching the sea, ¡awsome memories! Thanks Olguita for this fantastic journey to the sensual part of life, a true break for the daily routine. I am eager to read more about your trips.
And congratulations… ¡you master the English language!
